Co-founder & CEO, Uri May discusses ‘XDR’ and detection efficiency in threat detection & response.
"Many startups lack basic security hygiene and this presents a lot of barriers for growth, given the mandatory third party and vendor security policies most enterprises have in place. To move beyond the POC phase and successfully pursue larger customers, startups must prioritize the protection of the sensitive information they store and process for customers. Remember that while large organizations are resilient and can withstand a breach, the same cannot be said for most startups. You must take your internal security seriously.
Thankfully, there are many low-cost and minimally disruptive resources out there to help startups bolster their basic security hygiene. I suggest engaging in peer design, code reviews, performing basic scanning, and managing open source CVEs. Similarly, shoring up access control by way of using MFA wherever possible and managing credentials will mitigate unauthorized access. Startups without the internal capabilities to implement these changes themselves should very seriously consider engaging with a security advisor who can."
