“Here are my top 10 tips on leveraging competition for success: 1). Don’t be afraid to acknowledge competition 2). Every good solution has competition; it validates market demand 3). Quietly learn from your competitors' mistakes 4). Amplify your own brand; don’t lead with conversations about competitors, rather listen intently and take note when others share 5). Avoid being the source of “second-hand” or anecdotal stories about your competition, present objective, 3rd party evidence that speaks for itself 6). Energize your prospect’s focus on the positive advantages of your solution 7). Be first in establishing meaningful success criteria, when your solution is evaluated alongside the competition. 8). Encourage voices (outside your organization) to tell the story which supports the market’s preference for your solution 9). Never publicly 'punch down', or 'lash-up' at competition in posts on social media, it will diminish you 10). Do not underestimate or over-estimate the competition. Just be better!”
